Hoe kijk je naar iemand als je niet ziet wat er speelt?

In het afstudeerproject van Eric & Merlijn, ontwikkeld in samenwerking met het MEE lab, staat de vraag centraal hoe het stigma rond niet-zichtbare beperkingen doorbroken kan worden. Een gevoelig onderwerp waar zij zelf weinig van wisten, totdat ze in gesprek gingen met de mensen om wie het gaat. Deze gesprekken laten zien hoe vaak niet-zichtbare beperkingen leiden tot misverstanden: onderschatting, overschatting en aannames.

Dit resulteerde in een documentaire met drie videoportretten. Geen labels of verklaringen, maar persoonlijke verhalen van binnenuit.

How do you look at someone when you can’t see what’s going on?

In the graduation project by Eric & Merlijn, developed in collaboration with the MEE lab, the central question is how to break the stigma surrounding non-visible disabilities. A sensitive topic they initially knew little about, until they started talking with the people directly affected. These conversations reveal how often non-visible disabilities lead to misunderstandings: underestimation, overestimation, and assumptions.

This resulted in a documentary consisting of three video portraits. No labels or explanations, but personal stories from the inside.
